As one of the largest European distributors of specialist insulation, roofing materials and building building products, the success of our business is rooted in our heritage of longstanding collaborative partnerships.
SIG seeks to foster flexible and constructive relationships with its key stakeholder groups and recognises that the vitality of its strategy is enriched by stakeholder views and feedback.
We work closely with all our stakeholders to ensure that our strategy is mutually beneficial and supports our commitment to building a more sustainable future for us all.
Investors
SIG is listed on the London Stock Exchange (SHI).
We recognise our responsibility to our shareholders to deliver consistent returns on their investment. As part of this, we are committed to keeping our investor shareholders updated on our financial performance, strategy, and significant business events or corporate transactions which may affect SIG. We have a dedicated investor relations programme, led by the SIG Group CEO and CFO, to ensure that performance, strategy and material events are clearly communicated.
The views of our shareholders are an integral part of our decision-making process, and we engage in regular and open communication on a wide range of topics with our investors. The SIG plc Board is kept informed of investors’ views through frequent distribution and discussion of analysts’ and brokers’ briefings and a summary of investor opinion feedback. In addition, feedback from major shareholders is reported to the Board by the Chairman, CEO, and CFO and discussed at its meetings. Formal presentations are made to institutional shareholders following the announcement of the Group’s annual and interim results.
The Board of directors regularly responds to correspondence received from shareholders and participates in surveys and questionnaires submitted by investor research bodies.
Suppliers
SIG is a principal route to market for many of our manufacturers and we aim to add value by operating as their supply chain partner of choice. We engage with our suppliers to understand their businesses and to identify ways in which we can work with them strategically to create win-win outcomes.
SIG enjoys a critical place in industry supply chains. We generally sit between manufacturers and producers on the one hand, who tend to be relatively small in number but very large in size, and on the other hand customers who are generally relatively smaller in size but very numerous in number. We connect those two communities in ways in which they would be unlikely to be able to achieve without our presence.
Constructive and collaborative supplier partnerships are fostered at every level from the Board of directors to our local branches, with a focus on strengthening our service for all parties.
Customers
In an industry where relationships remain key, our pan European branch network provides unrivalled coverage and reliability to our customers.
Understanding the needs of our customers enables us to build effective partnerships with them. Founded on high trust relationships, our business is built on quality customer service and an innovative approach to meeting their needs. Our customer engagement ensures we continue to develop our in-depth knowledge to ensure we supply the very best materials and advice, so that whatever our customers’ needs, wherever they are, we are there.
As the construction industry responds with urgency to the climate crisis, using our insight and specialist know-how, we are supporting our customers and manufacturers to make tangible steps towards a greener future.
Colleagues
At the heart of SIG is our people.
Engagement and two-way communication with our colleagues are fundamental to our future success. Our culture, underpinned by a drive for an inclusive workforce, and backed by our corporate purpose, is imperative for SIG’s growth and ongoing sustainability.
Our annual internal employee engagement survey gives everyone within our organisation a voice and allows our Board to drive actions that make our colleagues feel increasingly proud and valued. We also hold informal, in-person forums, town halls, and meetings to provide key business updates and listen to feedback from colleagues.
Communities
We are immensely proud of the part our colleagues play in both community and charity work.
Our belief is that no one knows a community better than those who live and work there, and we actively encourage, support, and provide resources for our people to take part in community, local, and national charity initiatives. Developing links with our local communities, and the people in them is key as we continue to understand and enhance the part we play to support them.
Across the SIG Group of businesses, we are committed to supporting local communities in a wide variety of ways. For instance, we have several nominated charities that we actively look to engage with and fundraise for each year. Our charity committees organise and develop projects and colleagues have embraced our community support with both personal and team fundraising activities.
