The ultimate responsibility for Health, Safety, and Environment rests with the Group Board, represented by the SIG’s Group Chief Executive Officer. This responsibility is cascaded through the organisation from the Managing Directors of each of our subsidiary businesses, within the Executive Leadership team and their senior teams.
However, everyone in or associated with our business has a part to play in ensuring their own health and safety and that of those around them. We trust our people to work safely together with integrity, and to actively engage and participate in all health, safety, and environmental training and activities.
To ensure that our management teams are supported, guided, coached, and challenged in the HSE aspects of business activities, each of our subsidiary businesses has a directly employed HSE lead, to ensure effective support.
Together, the Group and our country leads form our HSE Leadership team, who advise the business on strategy, our HSE principles, and existing and emerging HSE risks. This team meets monthly to discuss events, share good practices, and work through solutions.
In addition, the HSE Leadership team meets at one of our trading sites at least three times a year for workshops and training.
