Talent and development

We want to support our employees to develop a career with us and we offer training and development opportunities for all our colleagues. Most of our businesses offer apprenticeships, leadership programmes and support for external qualifications. We have processes and systems in place across our business areas to ensure all employees have the opportunity to be set clear and realistic objectives and have regular performance reviews.

Health and Wellbeing

Our colleagues’ health and wellbeing is paramount to us and so we provide health and wellbeing support through employee assistance programmes, training, and initiatives in addition to providing resources to improve physical and mental health – but also to offer support and information in matters that may be causing worries such as financial management or relationships. In some of the businesses, we also offer benefits such as discounts on a gym membership

Communication

We are a business that listens to our employees and encourages two-way communication. In 2021, we introduced Workplace by Meta (Facebook) to enable and encourage communication with colleagues and help us all share ideas and experiences, ask questions, and give feedback. We run regular employee surveys too, at least annually, to seek and act upon feedback in all areas from vision and strategy to health and safety and training and we offer a whistleblowing service for any issues that employees would prefer to raise confidentially.

Each of our businesses has a number of other employee benefits that are offered locally, for example, cycle-to-work schemes, discounts on cinemas and restaurants, healthcare plans and recognition programmes.
