Governance

We have a SIG Sustainability Steering Group is made up of senior representatives from all of our key businesses along with functional experts.

The group meetings, which are chaired by our CEO, focus on developing and delivering local business action plans, sharing best practices, measuring data, and reporting to stakeholders.

Each of our businesses within the SIG Group has developed country-level plans to ensure sustainability is central to their focus, behaviours, and performance measures moving forwards.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

We are committed to creating long-term sustainable value for all stakeholders. To achieve this goal, our approach considers the impact of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the underlying ESG (environmental, social, governance) risks we consider to be important.

The SDGs were adopted in 2015 by the United Nations as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity. We have mapped our ESG and business activities with an aim of supporting nine SDGs:

  • SDG 3 - Good health and wellbeing
  • SDG 4 - Quality education
  • SDG 5 - Gender equality
  • SDG 8 - Decent work and economic growth
  • SDG 9 - Industry, innovation, and infrastructure
  • SDG 10 - Reduced inequalities
  • SDG 12 - Responsible consumption and production
  • SDG 13 - Climate action
  • SDG 16 - Peace, justice and strong institutions
